Personal Statement

Being an AmeriCorps in service to America for Illinois Campus Compact has been an exceptional opportunity for me. I had the opportunity to serve my community, while also strengthening my ability to help others which are a passion of mine. I am fortunate enough to have the knowledge and capability to not only help others, but to lead and motivate people.

I have always been interested in learning about their different experiences. Diversity is very important when it comes to understanding and truly being able to relate to others. I want to be able to effectively relate to those who are less fortunate and provide them with the means to better themselves. Not everyone is privileged to grow up in areas with quality education or have a good support system.

Providing people with knowledge is just as effective in helping them succeed in life as providing them with physical things. Motivating others to do better, teaching new skills, and giving without asking anything in return is one the most priceless feelings. I know that we live in a result oriented society, but I am aware and willing to endure the hard work that comes with it.
