Noah Temme

Peru State College

Noah Temme is a sophomore Social Science Education major from Peru State College who first started volunteering in middle school. In high school, Noah joined multiple clubs and organizations that allowed him to serve his school and community through recycling, fundraising, holding community events such as Easter egg hunts, and in general helping those who needed it. By being involved, Noah realized he could make a difference. At Peru State College he is a member of several organizations such as the history honor society Phi Alpha Theta and the Red Cross Club. These organizations help with trash pickups, conduct Red Cross blood drives, and distribute food through the Backpack Program, a program designed to distribute food to under served public school students. Noah further serves as an AmeriCorps member in the Children's Health, Activity & Nutrition Community Engagement (CHANCE) Initiative providing after school activities in an effort to combat pediatric obesity. He is extremely dedicated to this project volunteering every school day of the week. Noah exhibits exceptional integrity in all he does. His commitment to service and his impeccable character will be a model of service for others throughout his life.

Personal Statement

As a community member, I have always wanted to improve what is around me. I am proud to come from my small hometown, and all I want to do is give my time to help improve it. For serving in any community, I want to help improve people's lives and help them enjoy their community to instill pride in their hometown. I accomplish this by giving my time to community projects and events to help improve the community and help people become better themselves. As an education major, I want to be the difference for students who struggle in class. I want to help students discover whom they are and what they want to do. A goal for me as a teacher is to make students realize what they can do for their community. I volunteer my time by helping with an after school program, backpack program, community cleanups, and other events in the community that need volunteers.
