Personal Statement

One of my favorite organizations that I am a part of on Ohio Northern’s campus is Amnesty International. I have been a member since my freshman year and am currently one of the Co-chairs of the organization. AIONU engages in collaborative action with the student body, faculty members, and organizations in the Ada/Lima community to advocate for the ending of human rights abuses. I, along with our other members, have educational panel discussions, petitions, and other actions we perform to pursue our goals. Amnesty International is an apolitical organization, meaning we do not take a stance with a political ideology or party. We just address human rights issues and inequality based on the belief that all humans matter equally. Our organization is relatively new to campus, but I along with the other executive members have plans of helping keep the organization on track with actions that work, but also encompass our campus and local community around us for years to come. We value the engagement we get from the community and their support keeps our passions alive.
