Kristina Everhart

Pfeiffer University

At Pfeiffer University we believe in the power of community service to transform communities, empower volunteers and connect diverse populations to foster a spirit of inclusion and acceptance. Our 2018 Newman Fellows candidate, Kristina Everhart, has played an active role in linking university resources to combating poverty in our rural community.
Growing up in the Uwharrie Region of North Carolina, Kristina has a strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations in the area of health care and poverty relief. Kristina will be transitioning into our nursing program next year, and we believe that her natural character traits of compassion and perseverance will help her grow into a lifelong servant leader.

Personal Statement

Many years ago, when my brother was battling a life-threatening illness, the community stepped in and provided much needed love and support for my brother and our family. Since then, I have grown to cherish and appreciate my community's care and compassion not only in my life, but also in the lives of others. I feel it is an honor to be able to serve my community and help bring hope into a world that is filled with so much suffering. I hope that through giving and helping to better the lives of others, I can grow as a person, and also serve as a model for others to carry out in their own lives.
