Personal Statement

When I was younger and my family decided to move to a new neighborhood, 9-year-old me was incredibly upset by the fact that the neighborhood did not provide a recycling service to its residents. So, naturally, I decided to start one. From that point on, service and civic engagement have been a driving force in my life. From environmental conservation efforts to volunteering in local food banks, I truly believe in working for the betterment of all. Since my freshman year at Wheaton, I have been fortunate enough to serve as the president of the Community Service Council, designing, organizing and implementing both on- and off-campus service opportunities for students and other members of the Wheaton community. Through this experience, I have had the privilege of collaborating with numerous local organizations to provide students the opportunity to engage with and work to improve our community. Service is in my blood. I am passionate about presenting people with opportunities to give back and better their communities while learning through their experiences. I genuinely believe in working for the greater good and hope that others will join me in working to make the world a better place one act of service at a time.
