Personal Statement

I was lucky enough to have been raised in a church that instilled in me the necessity of serving others. It provided me with the opportunity to go on several mission trips that filled me with a passion for volunteer work that followed me to college. As a freshman, I joined the co-ed national service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega (APO). With this chapter, I have completed over 100 hours of service and that number only continues to grow. Now, as president of APO, I feel more motivated than ever to get out into the community, and beyond. I am on my way to becoming a physician and I plan on using my passion for service in my future career. Currently, I'm working on becoming a health coach in my community; This entails being assigned to a patient who struggles with chronic health issues. It is my job to help educate and inspire this patient in order to better their quality of life. My dream is to work for Doctors Without Borders after medical school in order to provide medical care to people in need around the world.
