Personal Statement

Jodie Davis grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey. As a young person, she saw the best and the worst of people and lived through the harsh realities of life. These experiences helped her to find her voice and to learn the value of giving back to her community, a value she began to appreciate when she was six years old. At that time, Jodie's mother placed her in the Pathfinder Club, a community service-oriented group at her church, Beth-EI SDA. Jodie's desire to serve others has only grown stronger since then. More recently, as a student at Stockton University, Jodie has developed her potential for service as a C.A.R.E. mentor to two Stockton students; an AmeriCorps Bonner Leader in the Office of Service-Learning; a Hunger and Homelessness Co-Captain; President of the NAACP Stockton Chapter; Vice President of the State of New Jersey's NAACP Youth and College Chapter, and Student Coordinator for Stockton's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
