Personal Statement

I am interested in learning as much as possible about the various governments of North, Central, and South America. In fact in January of 2017, I was accepted to study at the Institute for Leadership in the Americas (ILA) program in Santiago, Chile where I studied the politics, history, and economics of Latin America while practicing my Spanish language skills. In addition I served as the role of facilitator for the Soliya Connect Program which is a partner of the United nations Alliance Civilizations, a project of the UN Secretary-General that aims "to reduce tensions across cultural divides that threaten to inflame existing political conflicts or trigger new ones." As a facilitator I acted to ensure effective dialogue between students from Western Europe and the United States with students from the middle East and North Africa stressing reconciliation and acceptance of differences. I am focused internationally and not limited in my interest solely to one region of the world. Last summer I attended the American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES) Summer Program at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic where I studied conflict management and politicial economy.
