Hannah Levine

Salem State University

Hannah Levine is a first year student at Salem State University majoring in social work. She is a passionate leader with a focus on youth development which has been demonstrated through her work over the past four years. Hannah's foray into youth development began by empowering young people through serving on Framingham Public Library Youth Advisory Board for six years. In this leadership role she organized events, raised funds for a homework center, and provided tutoring that focused on enhancing young people's literacy skills. Hannah also served as Co-President for Temple Beth Am Temple Youth and currently supports adolescents through the Jewish Teen Initiative Metrowest Peer Leadership Program. This program builds a team of youth leaders striving to strengthen their community and each other through connecting with their Jewish identity. Hannah is one of the founding members of the Civic Engagement Fellowship program at Salem State University where she has had the opportunity to empower youth at Girls Inc. of Lynn.

Personal Statement

I love children. Growing up in a diverse community has afforded me the opportunity to witness first-hand the disparity between children with varying means. I've learned how families manage the everyday challenges of life; and how that affects the physical, mental, and social growth of their children. It's clear to me that many children require additional support and motivation to succeed. I know that I possess the foundational qualities and skills to identify, develop, and provide the necessary support systems for children with diverse challenges. Currently, I am a Civic Engagement Fellow and have a close connection with a program that empowers and encourages young girls. I am interested in many aspects of community service - however, I am most passionate about youth development and plan to focus my studies and my advocacy in this area.
