Personal Statement

I first became an active citizen through volunteering with my church community. As my personality and values developed during my public schooling, I found my true passion for helping others. During my late childhood, I explored my career as a teacher through high school classes and I have continued to concentrate on the social issue of equal and adequate education through my time in college. In the past three years of my college career, I have spoken on an educational panel to engage the community in conversations about our investment in early childhood programs. I am also a member of the leadership team for the Epsilon Pi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education. Through that involvement, I plan and lead activities for young children and their families in our community. Lastly, I read to and teach preschool children as a literacy tutor in a local Head Start classroom which has advanced my passion for creating a positive classroom environment for my students. I hope to continue making impacts in my communities through ensuring equal and adequate education for all children with the goal of contributing towards their lifelong success.
