Brendan Davis
Ithaca CollegeBrendan Davis, a senior Integrated Marketing Communications major, is a student leader active in Ithaca College's Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Brendan has contributed greatly to the contributions of Habitat for Humanity, serving on their executive board throughout college. Brendan has done a great deal to break down stigmas and stereotypes affecting low income residents in southern New York seeking affordable, quality housing. He says, "The club and myself try to raise awareness that poverty/homelessness is not just a factor of individual problems but that there are a greater issues at hand concerning other social structures. I have spent time organizing fundraising events, as well as facilitating workshops and leading events through Habitat that help students to make a difference in our local area."
Personal Statement
I thrive in situations that are hands on and in the field. Do the best way for me to learn how to build a house is to build one. Just like that, the best way for me to learn how to market and promote positive social outcomes is to do it. I have loved my time spent on spreading awareness and addressing the systemic problems concerning affordable housing and homelessness. My experience with Habitat for Humanity has been a culmination of my major, being a leadership scholar, developing my passion for social change and my love for building things! In part because of my experience with Habitat, I look forward to pursuing a career in cause-based marketing after I graduate.
