Artis Trice

Kennesaw State University

Artis began his college career at Kennesaw State University in Fall 2017 and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geography with a minor in Spanish. He is passionate about the environment and uses what he is learning in the classroom to strengthen his abilities in this area. He is an excellent student and has maintained a cumulative grade point average of 4.0, placing him on the President's List each semester he has been enrolled.

Artis has demonstrated initiative beyond the classroom as well. He is currently participating in the Doris Duke Conservation Scholar Program. This program educates student scholars on the environmental issues facing communities in the City of Seattle and the Quiriault Indian Nation in Western Washington. In addition, participants are engaged in hands-on activities that promote biodiversity conservation in different cultural areas around the State of Washington.

Personal Statement

I strive to make food and education accessible to all. My mission is to help build a world where food insecurity does not exist while making sure that sustainable systems for agriculture and environmental resources are implemented. This can only be done by supporting programs and causes that educate people on their rights to a healthy and sustainable life in the United States and around the world. I advocate for people to be involved in affairs that affect their communities so that everyone has a hand in being the change they want to see. I hope to use my Geography major to learn more about the connections that people have with their natural and built environments so that I can work in many sectors and communities to address issues related to food security, public health, and sustainable development.
